Borovets is the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria, dating back to 1896. Nowadays Borovets is the biggest Bulgarian skiing location in terms of length and capacity of
ski runs and facilities. It is situated on the northern slopes of Musala Peak in the eastern part of Rila Mountains. Huddled in venerable pine forests at an altitude of
over 1300 m, Borovets is the perfect place for winter sports holidays.
The resort enjoys a temperate climate – the winter is mild with plenty of snow.
The average temperature in January (the coldest month) is about 4.8° C. The
skiing season usually lasts from mid December to April.
The resort offers excellent conditions for winter sports: alpine skiing,
snowboarding, cross-country skiing.
