Vratsa – Chiprovtsi – Belogradchik – Vidin – Magura Cave
The town of Vratsa is situated at the foot of the Vratsa Balkans. Vratsa is the starting point to
Vratzata Gorge, famous for its beautiful cliffs and the cave of Ledenika.
Chiprovtsi is an old settlement established back in ancient Thracian times. It is known for the
Chiprovtsi Carpet Weaving School, whose unique carpets still arouse interest throughout the
world.
Being among the most attractive tourist places in Bulgaria, Belogradchik was nominated for
The New 7 Wonders of the World competition for its unique rock formations. With its
crystal-clear air, this piece of paradise offers numerous possibilities for hiking, biking and caving.
Vidin is a town situated on the Danube with centuries-old history. Located on the river bank
and surrounded by a moat, the fortress of Baba Vida is the main landmark of the town and
the only completely preserved medieval castle in Bulgaria.

was set up around 6000 BC. Rich in history, architecture as well as cultural and historical
attractions, Plovdiv has preserved the atmosphere of several different cultures.

The archaeological finds in the area of the village of Starosel are evidence of ancient settlements
dating back to 7-8 millennia. In the 5 c. BC, an ancient Thracian settlement was located here,
giving shelter to powerful tribal chieftains and rich local aristocracy.

The Thracian Complex of Perperikon – The village of Tatul – The Dam of Studen Kladenets – The Stone Mushrooms
Perperikon is an archaeological complex of a large megalith sanctuary. It is assumed that
this is Dionysus' temple which used to be renowned in the antiquity and now believed to
be erected by the Thracian tribe Satrae, belonging to the sacerdotal family of the Bessi.
This landmark is one of the 100 Tourist Sites.
Perperikon is located in the Eastern Rhodopes, 15 km to the northeast of the modern
town of Kardzhali.
Less than a kilometer away from the village of Tatul, there lies a stone sanctuary. The
pyramid-shaped rock contains two sarcophagi, altars, grooves, niches, and cut-in steps.

The Pirin National Park was set up in 1962 and covers over 42,000 hectares of centuries-old
forests, gigantic marble peaks, emerald lakes, edelweisses and clear rivers, which shape a
natural landscape and provide a habitat for numerous wild animals such as goats, deer, bears,
wild cats, wolves, etc.
The Pirin National Park is included in the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program.
